Biografia
|
Léon
Krier è nato in Lussemburgo nel 1946. Ha studiato architettura
all'Università di Stuttgart. Dal 1968 al 1974 ha lavorato nello
studio di James Stirling a Londra. Come professore di
architettura e urbanistica ha insegnato all'Architectural
Association al Royal College of Arts a Londra e alla Princeton
University (1974-77), come Jefferson Professor all'Università
di Virginia (1982), come Davenport Professor alla Yale
University (1990-91). Nel 1977 ha vinto il Berlin Preis
dell'Architettura, nel 1985 la Jefferson Memorial Medal, nel
1987 il Chicago AIA award. Ha pubblicato libri in Giappone,
Belgio, Gran Bretagna. Ha tenuto mostre in tutto il mondo tra le
quali una grande personale al MOMA di New York (1985). Ha fatto
progetti in Lussemburgo, Francia, Italia, Spagna, Germania, Usa
e Inghilterra. E' consulente personale del Principe di Galles
Carlo d'Inghilterra per il quale ha redatto il Master Plan per
lo sviluppo della città di Poundbury nel Dorset. 1993: piano
guida per Firenze Novoli; 1993-94 Nuovo Palazzo di Giustizia in
Lussemburgo e Museo Archeologico di Sintra (Portogallo). Dal
1991 disegna mobili per la Giorgetti S.p.A., chiamato da Massimo
Scolari che dell'azienda è art-director e designer. |
